Tighten + Tone Tuesday: How Important is it to Stay in the Fat Burning Zone if You Want to Burn Fat?

Happy Tighten + Tone Tuesday! This week's video was inspired by fan, Roxanne, who wanted to know how important it is to stay in your Target Zone while training.  To fully answer the question I decided to break it down into two videos. Today, I'll reveal whether or not it is important to stay in the Fat Burning zone.  Next week, I'll talk about finding and calculating your Target Heart Rate in general and whether or not you can venture out of that zone.

Have you ever seen a heart rate zone chart? Have you wondered what it meant and whether or not it was important? This video will tell you all you need to know about the Fat Burning versus Fit heart rate zones and their place in your workout.

To understand whether or not your need to be in the "Fat Burning Zone" if you want to burn fat, check out this week's video:

Do you regulate your heart rate when you work out? Did you learn anything new about heart rate zones? Do you have another question? Share your thoughts below and share this post if you found it useful.

I don't usually regulate my heart rate, I just tend to work out for 30 minutes at a time.

I use a heart rate monitor and try to stay in the fat burning zone.

I don't regulate my heart rate. When I run a lot, I slim down, so I know I'm burning fat. But I've heard a lot about the importance of reaching your target heart rate and keeping it there.

I try to exercise so I can still carry on a conversation while working out. I spend some time in the fat burning zone and some in the target heart rate zone.

I use a Polar HRM. I don't focus on staying in a particular zone, but I usually have an average heart rate of about 155.

That was interesting about burning the fat while you're sleeping or sitting down!

Yes, I do monitor my heart rate during my workouts on the tread mill and elliptical trainer. This is mainly because of curiosity and that the heart monitor is built into the equipment.

I don't regulate my heart rate during my workout sessions but I do with the calories burned.

Oh. I don't normally worry about my heart rate either. Sometimes when I'm at the gym I see it, but I don't know anything about it.

That's a great video, Catherine. To be honest I never pay attention to my heart rate when I work out but I'll definitely keep an eye on it from now on. I don't even know why I thought is not relevant.

I'm at the spot where I need to just start moving more in general before I start anything too heavy. Not right now, becaus I am sick and can't breathe well, but once I am better I need to get off my rear and work out every day!
I once tried a heart rate monitor but it didn't work very well, I should try one again so I can monitor my heart rate when working out to get the best results. :)
